Cass and Dan were married at Southport Yacht Club on the Gold Coast. One of the things that I love about being a Brisbane and Gold Coast Wedding Photographer is that I get to photograph a diverse range of environments. From city-scapes through to the rain forest of Mt Tamborine and beaches of the Gold Coast, I am constantly being spoiled for locations to work with.
As with all of my wedding photography packages for the Brisbane and Gold Coast region, I offer a complimentary pre-wedding shoot. Designed to educate and empower my couples the pre-wedding shoot is key to producing natural, non posed images on the wedding day.
During Cass and Dan’s pre-wedding shoot it was immediately evident that they were very comfortable. If not with being in front of the camera, than with being together – as they simply shone!
The Ceremony:
The outdoor ceremony was officiated by Janice Hancock, who also happened to be the mother of the groom. Janice is not just a truly lovely person, but has a fantastic sense of humour – and can she sing!!
Cass and Dan were very much about spending as little time away from guests as possible and asked for wedding portraits that were natural and true to their personalities. I think in total we were gone for less than an hour. We quite literally drove down the road, walked down to the beach, spent some time shooting and walked back to the cars.
It is easy for a photographer to get lost in the cliched opportunities that a beach photo shoot provides. That however, is not my style and is certainly not what my bride and groom wanted. My main aim was to blend candid shots of the bridal party as we moved about with a few epic images that would look great on their wall.
The Reception:
Arriving back at the reception – the night progressed to plan. Extremely funny speeches, a decline into looseness and partying, ties being worn as headbands and photobooth related antics spilling over into dance floor shenanigans!
I really enjoyed photographing this wedding. Both Dan and Cass had a fantastic sense of style and taste and an abundance of love which made capturing their wedding day a pleasure!
